This walking apparatus is custom-made based on a plaster cast and technically consists of two thigh orthoses combined with a pelvic/trunk section. Together with the desired “walking function”, which is enabled by the attached hip joints, knee and/or ankle joints can be equipped with different mechanisms to allow for the most harmonious forward movement possible. Depending on skin tolerance and design preferences, various padding options and materials can be used for manufacturing. This type of orthosis is typically used for muscular diseases in both children and adults, such as spina bifida, poliomyelitis, or spinal muscular atrophy, and serves as valuable support in promoting or maintaining walking ability.
